13th CENTURY CHATEAU historic restoration
CHATEAU DU 13ème SIÈCLE restauration historique
The brief for this huge project was to re-establish all the internal finishes, as well as create new internal views within this 13th Century Château. Working closely with conservationists and being sensitive and sympathetic to the history of the original building, we first had to understand how it was built 800 years ago. Original stone flags, oak oriel windows and internal lime pointing have all been matched and sourced. We have also installed a modern library, kitchen and a glass floor, influenced by architect Carlo Scarpa, which showcases the ancient access to the cellar. The work is ongoing at the chateau and future plans include renewing stonework to the moat - a real challenge.
Le but de cet énorme projet était de rétablir toutes les finitions internes ainsi que de créer de nouveaux espaces internes à ce château du 13ème siècle. travaillant étroitement avec la conservation régionale des monuments historiques (CRMH) et l’histoire du chateau, nous avons d’abord commencé à comprendre comment celui ci fut construit il y a 800 ans. Toutes les matières premières originales ont été tracées et retrouvées. Nous avons aussi installé une librairie moderne, une cuisine et un sol en verre, influencé par l’architecte Carlo Scarpa, exposant l’ancien accès aux caves. Les travaux sont actuels et de futurs plans incluent la renovation de la maçonnerie et du fossé - un défi de taille.
